The Wattbot Sports Day

Programme Outline

Understanding division as grouping and sharing

Wattbots are slightly unreliable, general-purpose robots. Lisa, the space pilot who brought the children to Junketir, finds enough spare parts to build a total of 24 Wattbots. To compare the old and new robots they stage a 'Sports Day', and have to organise them into three teams for Amber, Sam and Uncle Zak. Numberella points out that the teams should be the same size with eight in each. When Botler, the chief robot, asks to have a team as well they have to reorganise into groups of six. A number of races are arranged, with Sam being suspected of cheating. One event demands that the Wattbots run in pairs. Numberella helps investigate how many twos make up 24.
