Recognising and using unit fractions

Amber and Sam are hunting for scrap when they find a strange machine with several knobs. They put in a scrap rod and press a button and the machine cuts it into two equal parts. By experimenting, they discover that different buttons cut the rods into different numbers of equal parts. Amber recognises quarters, but the children do not know what to call the fifths and tenths. They ask Numberella, who explains the language and shows them how to write the fractions. Whilst Uncle Zak comes to retrieve such a useful machine, they share a Venus bar which reinforces the importance of equal parts.
