Henning is in his house mending a broken clock. There are lots of clocks in the carriage.

So, what time is it? Two o’clock. No, that’s not right.

He looks at the clock.

Henning: Acht Uhr. (Laughs.) Falsch.
Eight o’clock. Wrong.

Looks at another clock.

Henning: Fünf Uhr. Nein. Es ist nicht fünf Uhr.
Five o’clock. No, it’s not five o’clock.

He goes over to the telephone and calls the talking clock.

Talking Clock: Es ist zwölf Uhr.
It’s twelve o’clock.

Henning holds the receiver up to his clocks.

Henning: Es ist jetz zwölf Uhr.
It is now twelve o’clock.

Henning puts the receiver down, smiling.

Henning: Nicht zwei Uhr, es ist zwölf Uhr. Nicht fünf Uhr, zwölf Uhr. Nicht acht Uhr, zwölf Uhr.
No, it’s not two o’clock, it's twelve o’clock. Not five o’clock. twelve o’clock. Not eight o’clock, twelve o’clock.

One by one the clocks correct themselves to read 12 o’clock.

Henning: Das ist richtig.
That’s right.

Henning picks up a cheeky clock.

Henning: Nein, nein, nicht halb zwölf. Zwölf Uhr!
No, no, not half past eleven. Twelve o'clock!

He moves the hands up to twelve again. The clock hands click down on other side.

Henning: Nein! Nicht halb eins! Zwölf Uhr!
No, no! Not half past twelve! Twelve o'clock!

He moves hands back into position, then back the other way.

Henning: Nein, nicht halb zwölf. Zwölf Uhr!
No, not half past eleven, twelve o’clock!

The hands move into the correct position again.

Henning: Das ist gut.
That’s right.

Child’s voice: Wie spät ist es? Es ist zwölf Uhr.
What time is it? It’s twelve o’clock.

Child’s voice: In der Schule.
At school.

The teacher is in front of map of Europe in the classroom. It is a geography lesson.

Teacher: Thayalleni, zeig mir bitte mal Schottland.
Thayalleni, can you show me where Scotland is please?

Thayalleni points on the map.Two boys whisper to each other.

Yannick: Wie spät ist es?
What's the time?

Marcel: Weiß ich nicht, ich habe keine Uhr. Schau doch auf die grosse Uhr!
I don't know, I don't have a watch. Look at the big clock!

The clock shows twenty-five minutes past one.

Yannick: Ja, noch fünf Minuten.
Right, five minutes to go.

The Teacher hands out some worksheets. Two girls whisper to each other.

Svenja: Weißt du, wie spät es ist?
Do you know what time it is?

She looks at her watch.

Deike: Nur noch vier Minuten.
Only four minutes to go.

The second hand ticks around the clock as the children countdown from ten to one. We see a different child count down each second.

zehn, neun, acht, sieben, sechs, fünf, vier, drei, zwei, eins.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.

The bell rings.

Teacher: Das ist alles. Auf Wiedersehen.
That's all. Goodbye.

Children: Tschüs.
Bye.

Children in the playground. We see various children's games in full flow.

Yannick: He, Roman, wo ist denn Marcel?

All say Tschüs to one another and walk off in different directions.

Henning’s voice: Was machst du gerne?

Children run inside the railway carriage, saying hello and good morning to Henning. Henning pulls a piece of straw out of one of his many clocks.

Henning: später.

This is boring.

Deike: Hier kann man nichts machen.
There’s nothing to do here.

Marcel: Alles ist blöd.
It's all stupid.

Yannick: Ich weiß nicht.
I don’t know.

Roman: Und du? Was machst du gerne?
And you, what do you like to do?

Henning: Ich zeige es euch.
I'll show you.

Henning mimes swimming.

Deike: Schwimmst du gerne?

Henning: Richtig.

Henning mimes cooking.

Yannick skateboards down the track. Henning stays at the finish line. Then he cartwheels off - and wins!

Henning whispers something to Yannick. There is a close-up of Henning’s stopwatch.

Henning gives Roman a head start, then forward rolls down the track - and wins!

Roman: Okay, du hast gewonnen, aber wie machst du das?

Henning whispers something in his ear.

Henning puts his hand over the boy's mouth to prevent him from repeating the secret in full.

Roman: Ich weib , warum Henning schneller ist. Er hat eine magische Stoppuhr.
I know why Henning is faster. He’s got a magic stopwatch.

Children: Aaaaahhhhh.

Henning, Deike, Marcel and Thayalleni are warming up for a running race.

Sports teacher: Auf die Plätze, fertig, los!

They set off – the kids running, Henning on his hands.

Children at the finish line are shouting for Henning.

Half way down the track, he somersaults and turns back to face the kids who are behind him. He drops his stopwatch, then continues running backwards down the track.

A group of children at the finish line shout: Henning! Schneller!
Henning! Faster!

At the finish line, Henning loses the race to Deike. Henning can’t believe that he’s lost.

Henning is sitting in his carriage, looking sad. The children knock at the door and walk inside.

Henning: Also, ihr habt eure Aufgabe gelöst.

Roman: Wir haben unsere Aufgabe gelöst .
Yeah, we solved the task.

Deike: Ich habe gewonnen, aber mit deiner magischen Stoppuhr, bist du immer der Gewinner

Henning reads the writing on the medal.
