The Third Italy

Aims

To:

• Show that Italy no longer has two contrasting areas in its economy (the rich Northwest and the poor South). A third force has emerged.
• Define the north-eastern location of the so-called 'Third Italy', and show, through the lives of local people, and show how the region has developed and how it looks set to prosper.
• Explain why some major companies, such as Benetton, prefer this location to the old Industrial Triangle.
