Tuesday 29th November 2005 saw the making of a unique online news bulletin - the climax of eight weeks of hard work by students in nine schools and learning centres together with the Channel 4 News team.
The Breaking the News project launched in late September when schools and learning centres started delivering the Breaking the News course. In October, they all did a dry run of Newsday and began work on their own local news story.
As the 29th of November drew near, the students were given two news feature topics, one on teenagers and another on the environment, which they were asked to make into complete television news packages and submit for the Newsday bulletin.
On the day, they raced against the clock to make a breaking news story. The team of students at Channel 4 News at ITN scripted, compiled and edited the bulletin with minutes to spare.
Find out how they did this and see how you too can break the news.

The pressure mounts as the on-the-day story is chosen and the rushes go out to the school teams.
