Sharnbrook Upper School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school serving the village communities of rural North Bedfordshire. Currently there are nearly 1800 pupils on the school roll, of whom 600 are in the sixth form.
The school consistently achieves outstanding results at both GCSE and post-16 and has just become one of a select group of schools named by the Chief Inspector of Schools as "The Best of the Best".
It is a designated 'Training School' for teachers; is part of a thriving Learning Community of partner schools and holds the Artsmark Gold award.
Since 1999 the school has been recognised by the DfES as a specialist Media Arts College, specialising in particular in film and television production. Unusually for a school there is a well-equipped television studio from which students and staff produce, each week, a 20 minute live assembly/magazine programme, broadcast to all classrooms. The impact on the ethos and sense of community is felt by all who study or work at the school.
