At 8:00am on Newsday, the student bulletin editorial team sat down with Channel 4 News journalists to select the story of the day from a list of prospects they had prepared the afternoon before.
The story chosen was the Greenpeace protests that disrupted Tony Blair's speech about the energy review that could lead to new nuclear power stations being built in the UK. The schools were alerted and began their research.
From 10.30am the rushes were released to the school teams via the eSEQ editing tool. The story deadline was 2:30pm. They had only four hours, working against the clock.
