unit 3: tv news and society

This unit examines the role TV news plays in a democratic society as well as the pressures faced by public service broadcasting. Students consider how TV news 'speaks' to its audiences as well as the different ways in which might audiences respond.

In this unit students will:

  1. demonstrate understanding of the place of TV news in a democratic society
  2. demonstrate understanding of how target audience affects TV news
  3. demonstrate understanding of the different audience interpretations of TV news.
