Jon is back in the newsroom| at 14:30 after judging the Guardian Student Media Awards. Ed Fraser updates him on the progress of today's main stories. Jon suggests Desmond Morris as a possible interviewee about the psychology of panic buying for the light item on the show.

Ed and Jon discuss the running order and Ed mentions that the editor of Channel 4 News, Jim Gray, is concerned that the Iraq bomb story, currently at the top of the newsbelt, isn't being given enough prominence.

Jon tells us about the Hurricane Katrina report he's been asked to do. He'll be writing the script, editing the agency pictures (with the help of a video editor) and voicing the story.
