i'm not one for moaning or complaining , i normally think thats for prople who have to much time on there hands. but the other day i was watching channel 4 at dinner time when an advert which was advertising a programe about farming came on , now i am not atall shocked by farm life as i do live in rural devon, although i am a vegatarian. but the advert came on as to begin with as if it was going to be somthing nice to watch playing in the back ground old mcdonald had a farm and showed chicks as it went into the advert it went into animals being killed not showing the killing but the results , and after watching that advert i realised where those poor chicks where going and it actually upset me because of the way the advert was potrayed at the begging. i am very upset by it.

    Biased reporting

The coverage of the strike at Grangemouth by Samir Amin tonight (friday, April 25 at 7) was biased. The various features were designed to provoke fear rather than inform; indeed some of the reports were very informative but NONE covered the issues in the dispute. Management is tearing up the pensions of those working there. Samir was aggressive, ill informed and, quite frankly, rather ridiculous in her interviews with both parties to the dispute. Since all of us worry about our pensions, it is extraordinary that your coverage of this important industrial action did not offer any information on the cause of the action and the role played by management in provoking it. I am not a union member and have no relatives working at Grangemouth. I AM an economist with a good knowledge of the company, however. Why not do some real investigative reporting about the company and report the facts. I was most disappointed in you.

I would like to point out that the UK and the USA seem to have totally different viewpoints when it comes to people who are 'possessed'by evil beings.Having viewed Virgin1's program 'The Real Exorcist' it seems pretty plain to me that rather than being sectioned under the Mental Health Act, as was suggested in part of the program, poor Ruth would benefit from a session with Bob Larson. We in the UK ought to at least open our minds to other possibilities when looking for reasons for people hearing such voices. The likenesses between the woman on last weeks Real Exorcist and to Ruth were uncanny.... and surely worth following up, even just for Ruth's sake.

Jon's style will vary from interview to interview depending on the nature of the subject, and the reasons why we're conducting the interview, particularly the extent to which interviewees are being questioned over decisions they've taken. I'm not sure whether you saw Jon's interview with Gordon Brown last week, but that was both tough and did require him to interrupt on a couple of occasions as he tried to get direct answers to his questions about the 10 pence tax rate and the impact of the credit crunch. I really don't think Jon's interview technique is governed by the party to which his interviewee belongs, but we've noted your points and will continue to be mindful of our requirement to be duly impartial in our coverage.

    Jon Snow not impartial
    wrote on 17-04-08 19:23

I feel very strongly that Jon Snow interrupts interviewees to much -- except when it's Government Ministers.

Opposition spokesmen, and people from other walks of life, never seem to get a chance to finish what they're saying or, if they do, I can't hear it because of Snow's interruption.

I have to say having served in Iraq and having close friends who have been seriously injured in combat, i found that intended 'humorous' link to said programme to be completely inappropriate. Whatever story line is happening in a fictional series should not make light of serious and life changing events in real life by people who have no concept of what they are talking about.

    Scheduling - Double Standards?
    wrote on 16-04-08 19:26

I'm not at all surprised C4 have received so many scheduling complaints when they continue to shuffle things around with no discernible purpose. West Wing for instance, not for the first time in it's life, now finds itself (I suspect for Series 5 alone) tucked away in an unwatchable slot at 23:50 on Saturday nights. After sending an e-mail berating More4 for this decision, and a few e-mails in return stating how difficult the process is, but not offering any valid reason, I finally received an e-mail explaining that the 9pm slot was being used to reshow some of C4's dramas, eg Poppy Shakespeare. Fine, I have no problem with that, C4 as a group do excellent groundbreaking work in that area. However, this Saturday, leading up to Poppy Shakespeare, More4 have 5 hours 35 minutes of re-runs of Relocation, Relocation, Is that a valid use of scheduling? Why can't TWW be brought forward to 8pm on Saturday, or moved back to 8pm on Sunday - wait, Sundays are out because there are 2 hours 5 minut

ER - did I miss something? - Response to question below.
    wrote on 09-04-08 13:23

Dear Jomorling, ER episode 10 was shown on 15 March. There wasn't an episode on Easter Saturday as Channel 4 tends to change schedules for bank holidays and were showing a film. The next episode no 11 was shown on Channel 4 the following week on 29 March.

    wrote on 09-04-08 13:11

Kirsty-emm, Glad you love the OC. Currently O.C . series 2 is re-running in the mornings on Channel 4 at around 10am, then straight onto series 3 (school holidays). There has only been four series made - no plans for a 5th that I am aware of - so there are no new episodes to screen, I'm afraid.

Is immigration only a male issue in the UK
    wrote on 07-04-08 22:53

One might think so after watching tonight's Dispatches. Not a single female view was sought. Why was this? It definitely makes the program less plausible.

At last the media and specifically channel 4 has been brave enough to open up a debate on immigration in the UK and air some of the concerns across the spectrum.

    Excellent.

Repeating property programmes by CH4 is extremely irresponsible. I have noticed that all the recent programmes of Home or Away were made in 2005. One of the worst presenters in my view is Amanda Lamb who is so pushy applying pressure on her victims to make an offer behaving as a greedy estate agent! Does she get a commission? Another irresponsible trait of Ms Lamb is telling her victims that they can get £400 or 500 a week in rent in good old Latvia or Poland!! Has she been sued by someone who has not been able to let their properties? Please CH behave with some dignity and responsibility and don't allow these 'subcontractors' of producers to ruin your reputation. The only cr3edible presenter you have is Gavin of Grand Design- he is knowledgeable and dignified and there is no annoying drumming music spoiling our enjoyment.

    Crazy editing

I have just watched Cutting Edge "The Human Spider". What crazy editing. The program was about an outstanding athlete but every sequence of him climbing was cut to ribbons with chopped sequences of very short clips. We never got a clear view of him climbing. I thought the point of television was to show you what was going on not to prevent you from seeing the action properly

In 1981 I was diagnosed with Puerpural psychosis (a very severe form of post-natal depression). After in-patient treatment I spent some time in a day psychiatric hospital. What I saw in your programme bore no resemblance to the treatment I received. Patients were never handed out medication on an apparent random basis. The scene depicted was totally illegal as well as contrary to all standards of professional practice. All administration would have to be recorded and would be monitored. Patients were reviewed initially weekly at the ward round where you saw your consultant psychiatrist and the rest of the team. At other times a senior registrar was available to be seen in private. Activities including yoga were provided as well as relaxation sessions, pottery and other craft sessions. Group therapy was provided in a safe environment. Despite only limited resources the NHS profesionals and ancilliary staff worked together as a team making my life a lot better than it might have been

I watched chanel 4's film adaptation of Clare Allen's 'Poppy Shakespeare' last night, and i felt the need to congratulate channel 4 for airing such a brilliant programme. At 16 years of age, for most of my life i have had to care for my mother who suffers from a mental health issue. She has a suvere from of bipolar, as well as aggraphobia. I believe that the mental health service has failed my mother time and time again, and she has been neglected quite badly. I could really relate to this programme, and its fantastic that you have made a point of brodcasting how people are neglected and treated badly in this country. Its about time we stopped sugar coating how things really are and face up to the facts. I believe that the warning that came before this programme were quite sufficient, and it was actually made very clear that the programme contained 'scenes that some viewers may find disturbing'. Its time people realised how badly mental health patients are treated by those paid to care

Please note: The female presenter (sorry, don't know her name)always says: They have given Jonnie and I the task....Grammatically this is wrong. The accusative case needs to be used here: They have given Jonnie and me the task...(Whom have they given the task? Whom always answers in the accusative) However, Jonnie and I are looking for properties.... is correct, as here the nominative case is used. Whemn she presented the programme on Austria her pronunciation of the German words she used left a lot to be desired. Please get it right to make a good programme perfect. Thank you

Whilst I appreciate the above as a piece of accomplished drama, I feel that you showed a severe lack of responsibility by not warning viewers of the acutely distressing content of the programme. You issued a recorded message but, this was insufficient. The programme was distressing. I realise, of course, that you were alerting us to what the government, in its wisdom, is doing to mental health services, but, and it is a BIG but...I am left with a feeling of great anxiety for those vulnerable souls, who might have been considering asking for help for mental health issues. Purely by coincidence, I visitd my GP today. I have Von-Recklinheusen's Neuro-fibro-matosis (look it up)A broken neck, and dreadful scarring from MRSA acquired from botched breast cancer surgery. I needed my GP's assurance that it was quite normal to feel overwhelmed from time to time. Had I watched this prog before my appointment, it would have terrified me to the extent that I would not have kept the appointment.

Did I miss an episode of ER over Easter? What happened to episode 10? Neela suddenly has a cousin out of the blue and everyone was exercising for no apparent reason. The rest of the drama, as always, held together well, because of the great medical cases but it all felt as though something was missing - can you enlighten me?
