Making comments on Channel 4 Programmes:
Know your rights (and wrongs)
We invite your comments on Channel 4 programmes at the foot of each of the articles included here on The TV Show. To join the debate, you need to be Registered with Channel 4.
Please note the makers of The TV Show watch this site closely. If they’re interested in what you have to say, expect an invite to join us on the monthly show.
Registering
- Avoid registering with your full name as your user name, and when posting, don’t reveal any personal details, link to your website or dodgy-money making scheme. It’s partly a Privacy thing, partly to protect you, and partly to protect others from you.
- Sorry if your email confirming your registration takes a while to arrive. Please be patient.
- Also please don’t expect your comment to appear immediately. Comments can take a while to process. If your post never appears, then you will have broken one of the cardinal sins. So please don’t revert to a stream of Anglo-Saxon to emphasize your point.
Conduct
- We want a good, clean fight, nothing below the belt, nothing that wouldn’t be allowed in the school playground.
- If you can’t say it without using obscene, violent, indecent, libellous words, or anything that could be considered harassment, threatening or offensive, then please don’t say it.
- Steer clear of promoting cruelty, violence, vandalism, fraudulent, terrorist or other criminal acts or encouraging others to commit illegal acts or harm others in any way.
- …And don’t use any b****y asterisks.
Links and Quotes
- While Channel 4 isn’t responsible for your utterances or anything said on external sites, we do remove links to anything other than a recognised news source, such as the papers.
- Don’t paste large chunks of an article into your post, though a brief quote should avoid copyright issues.
Complaints
- NB The site is for comments for public discussion. If you would like to make an official or private comment about a Channel 4 programme, please visit Viewer Enquiries
And Finally
- Before you jump in with both feet, please read all previous comments, and try to remain cool, calm and collected.
- The main thing to remember is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because you disagree with someone doesn’t make them wrong, stupid, a serial killer, or any part of the human anatomy. Don’t make unnecessary enemies – you may come to regret it. Not least, because if you say something untrue – or something you can’t prove to be true – about a person or company, you may be sued for defamation.
Please read our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
