Any mash-up you send to us must comply with the rules below and the Channel 4 competition terms & conditions. If you submit a mash-up in breach of these, you will be disqualified.
Mash-ups must employ some of Channel 4's FilmFour RSS content and at least one other source of data.
Mash-ups must attribute derived content from Channel4.com and third parties by providing a link back to the original content.
All content you use with the Film Four content must be your own work (and not copied from anyone else) or, if you include anyone else’s content, you must have permission to do so. You must check any terms of use supplied with third party content to ensure this is the case. Just because content is on the internet does not mean that you automatically have the right to use it in a mash-up.
Mash-ups must not contain any adult content, or any content that is obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening, defamatory, untrue or offensive or that promotes or shows cruelty, violence, vandalism, fraudulent or criminal or illegal acts.
Don’t feature any music in your mash-up unless this is original i.e. your own composition.
Mash-ups must not feature any malicious functionality, code, spyware or adware which could harm Channel 4’s or any third party’s systems.
There is no restriction on what technologies the mash-ups use, or what platforms they sit on. Facebook applications are fair game, as are widgets and other microformats (provided that, in all cases, you have permission to use the technology and platforms).
All information you provide in or in relation to your mash-up must be accurate, true and up to date.
You may enter the Competition as many times as you like but only one prize can be awarded per person.
Channel 4 does not, unless we agree this with you, claim any rights of ownership in your mash-up (other than in the Film Four content). Please note, however, that by entering the Competition you are accepting that (a) Channel 4 (and third parties authorised by Channel 4) may use, exploit and/or make any and all mash-ups available (although Channel 4 is under no obligation to do this) on channel4.com and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, which may include other internet sites, mobile, television and/or radio in perpetuity (and you hereby waive any so called “moral rights” in the entry) and you will do anything required by Channel 4 to give effect to this provision; (b) no payment (other than prizes, where awarded) will be given to you for any use of the mash-up; (c) the mash-up may be made available with advertising and/or sponsorship; (d) Channel 4 (and third parties authorised by Channel 4) may issue publicity concerning the mash-up and any material, service or programme in which it may be included; and (e) Channel 4 has no liability for loss of or corruption or damage to your entry.
