Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).
Channel 4 will premiere “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on Friday 27th September at 8pm. Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer, Jay Hunt says; "Like the Superhero universe from which it has come, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is big, bold and absolutely exhilarating. Featuring the production values you’d expect from Marvel and ABC Studios, this is family entertainment at its most exciting.”
Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind the feature film "Marvel's The Avengers," one of the highest grossing films of all time, and the iconic television series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," has co-created "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," a dynamic, action-packed one-hour drama that brings back Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) to lead a team of highly skilled agents to investigate extra-normal and super human people and events worldwide.
The series begins where the "Marvel's The Avengers" left off. It's just after the battle of New York, and now that the existence of super heroes and aliens has become public knowledge, the world is trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson is back in action and now has his eye on a mysterious group called The Rising Tide. In order to track this unseen, unknown enemy, he has assembled a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division).
The S.H.I.E.L.D. team has a mission: To investigate the new, the strange and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Marvel's first television series, was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen ("Dollhouse," "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"), who also serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb ("Smallville," "Lost," "Heroes") and Jeffrey Bell ("Angel," "Alias"). "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television, and is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.
Meet the Agents
Agent Phil Coulson is back, eager to form a specialized team of individuals to brave the post-Battle of New York world. He believes this small team of regular people, when working together, can make just as much of a difference as those with super powers.
While Agent Ward is highly trained in combat and espionage, he sometimes fails at interpersonal relations. He’s a man of few words, but always cool under fire and ready for action. Fiercely loyal, he would give his life for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agent May is an expert pilot and martial artist. Though she was once a legend in the agency, she mysteriously resigned herself to a quiet desk job in recent years.
Computer hacker Skye has a vast knowledge of code. Some would call her a free spirit, others a disruptive anarchist. But all agree on her uncanny ability to gain the upper hand through wit and charm. Skye’s background is also something rare to S.H.I.E.L.D.: a mystery.
Genius bio-chemist Jemma Simmons is a rising star in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s research division, along with her inseparable friend and partner, Leo Fitz. The two are usually found bickering, but they are always found together. Simmons has a love for science and a wide-eyed enthusiasm for the world that make this opportunity to work in the field the adventure of a lifetime.
Iain De Caestecker
Leo Fitz is as brilliant an engineer as he is socially awkward – but he’s always on the same wavelength as his research partner, Jemma Simmons. The two of them are an inseparable pair, though a little green, having never been in the field before.
