The return of Million Pound Drop Live on Channel 4 last weekend saw a rush of over 300,000 down loads of the programme’s play along app, pushing the total download figure to 2.1 m.
The mobile app was created by producers of The Million Pound Drop Live, Remarkable Television, an Endemol company and was developed by dual screen technology pioneers Monterosa.
Channel 4’s MultiPlatform Commissioner, Jody Smith said: “The Million Pound Drop has been Channel 4’s most popular programme app to date and is the most common way that people like to play along with the show, with more than 60% playing on ios and Android, over laptop. Regularly releasing new features and extra questions has helped keep people interested, including a new bonus round for this series. I’m pleased that the freemium model has been big hit too, and 10% of our install base have paid for extra features, which is above the industry average, widely reported to be around 3%”
