The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games were a huge success for British sport but also for Channel 4 with our coverage reaching tens of millions of viewers and already picking up multiple awards.

2018 sees the XII edition of the Paralympic Winter Games from Pyeongchang, South Korea and Channel 4 is seeking a production partner to once again break new ground in covering a major international sporting event.

Channel 4 is the exclusive UK and Eire TV broadcaster of the 2018 Winter Paralympics and will bring daily Live, recorded and digital coverage of the games which run from the 9th to 18th March next year.

As ever, programme excellence with innovation will be at the heart of the production with a style and approach that builds on the success and themes of our coverage of para-sport.

A world feed of the games will be provided by Olympic Broadcast Services, so Channel 4 requires a producer to oversee its Presentation or “wrap around” coverage as well as supplementing the host feed to enhance the coverage for our discerning and demanding viewers.

Our Producers will also be required to work closely with the International Paralympic Committee, Paralympics GB and Olympic Broadcast Services.

To find the very best partner for this Production , Channel 4 is running a three stage process that will culminate with presentations by the most suitable, interested Producers.

For this first stage, on one sheet of A4 each, please;

• Outline Live sport production credentials, particularly Major International events and/or multi sport event production for a leading UK television channel.

• Prepare a press release giving the headlines of your coverage of the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games. The Press release should give an idea of the talent you will use and how they will be used, what makes the coverage “stand out” and how you will balance Live and recorded coverage from a time zone 8 hours ahead of the UK.

This exercise is designed to give Channel 4 an idea of your approach to covering this event. Budgets and delivery will be covered in the next stage of the proposals process.

Please provide your submission by 18.00 on 17th April 2017 via email to Sian Dolding –

Due to the long Bank Holiday weekend we will extending the submission deadline to Thursday 20th April, 6pm.

If we decide that your proposal has the potential and that you have the requisite experience to produce our 2018 Paralympic Winter Games coverage, you will be given a month to prepare detailed proposals and budget ahead of presentations to Channel 4’s commissioning team.

Any changes to any deadline dates will be posted on the Channel 4 website.
