Darts is coming to Channel 4 and we are now looking for a production partner to work across output of the 2017 and 2018 Lakeside World Darts Championships.

The BDO tournament is the older of Darts’ two World Championship events and takes place in early January. Previous winners read like a Darts Hall of fame including; ‘The Crafty Cockney’, Eric Bristow, Jockey Wilson, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, Raymond Van Barneveld and current men’s and women’s champions, Scott Waites and Trina ‘Golden Girl’ Gulliver. 2017 will be its 32nd year at the iconic Lakeside Country Club.

Channel 4 will be the exclusive terrestrial broadcaster of the next two editions of The Championships with BT Sport sub-licensing matches for Pay TV.

The Production contract is for live event coverage of the 2017 and 18 Championships, providing world feed pictures for both Channel 4 and BT with bespoke elements such as features and pre-show for both broadcasters.

The programming has to show exceptional production values, excellent knowledge of the sport across your production team and imaginative solutions to both technical and editorial challenges. Moving to Channel 4 marks the beginning of a new era for the Lakeside Championships so creativity is key.

Live Coverage and Programme Production

The Championships last for 9 days and feature in excess of 50 matches in both the men’s and women’s draw. The contract is for the entirety of the next two tournaments, every match and every session.

In addition to producing a world feed of the action, the successful producers will also create all the bespoke elements required for daily programmes to be transmitted on both Channel 4 and BT. This includes; Presentation, set design, stage management, features and graphics. Both Channel 4 and its partner BT Sport will have separate requirements for their programmes, including highlights and require a unique look and feel.
