News & Current Affairs

prod

Channel 4 is a rare home for original journalism. The core purpose of our journalism is to provoke debate by bringing new ideas and radical voices to public attention. Channel 4 news is valued for it's independence and plays a key role in democratic discussion in Britain. Our current-affairs journalism is challenging and trouble-making. We hold power to account; we overturn prejudices, upset the politically correct and try where possible to disrupt the viewer's vision of the world. We seek out voices and views that others would ignore and bring them to a mainstream audience. The main returning programmes are Dispatches; Channel 4's dedicated investigative current-affairs programme and Unreported World; the foreign-affairs series which offers an insight into the lives of people in some of the most neglected parts of the planet.

You can send your ideas for current affairs programmes to either Dorothy Byrne or Siobhan Sinnerton. While we await the appointment of a new Dispatches editor, please send Dispatches ideas to Dorothy Byrne. New Media ideas should go to Vicky Taylor. If you have an idea for an independent film in Channel Four News, please contact Mike.Radford@itn.co.uk.
