Small arms

Beretta Modello 34 (Italy)

Length 15.2cm / 6in
Weight 570g / 1.25lb
Muzzle velocity 290m / 950ft per second
Cartridge 9mm
Magazine 7 rounds

This was adopted as the Italian standard service pistol in 1934 (hence Modello 34). Nobody makes guns like the Italians, and this small, compact automatic is no exception to this rule. It is well made, light and nicely finished. Though some believe the weapon is too lightweight to be a competent service pistol, the small weapon is ideal as a personal side arm for secondary, or rear echelon, service; such as with the police or other non-combatant officials.

The gun is short and wonderfully balanced, making it ideal for relatively unskilled use. It works effectively as a point and squirt pistol, as opposed to a heavyweight combat pistol, which requires extensive training.
