The Georgian era 1714-1837

Spanning most of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th, the Georgian era witnessed both the agricultural revolution and the start of the industrial era. It also saw the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie at Culloden, the American War of Independence and the Napoleonic Wars. It has been the focus of only a small number of Time Team programmes. These include the search for one of George III's royal palaces at Kew; the excavation of an early blast furnace in a pub cellar at Ironbridge; and the birthplace of the modern British army at Shorncliffe Redoubt.
