Who is the best digger?

As well as diggers from whichever local archaeological unit we are working with, we always use the same team, who have their own unique skills to contribute to Time Team. These include:

• Caroline: an osteoarchaeologist, seen getting enthusiastic about human remains on the Greylake programme in the 1998 series.
• Greg: freelance digger. Has worked on a huge variety of sites including at Beirut. Lives in a castle in Shropshire.
• Jenni Butterworth: Dr Butterworth, as she must now be known since completing her PhD. Expert on monasteries. Also lives in Bristol.
• Ian Powlesland: is working on his PhD in landscape archaeology. A mean hand at the mini-digger. Another member of the Bristol mafia.
