Henry, who took over from Bernard Thomason for the 2002 series, is principally responsible for all the surveying of the excavated trenches, artefacts and the geophysics grids. This is why you tend to see him with a variety of yellow technical equipment. The data he collects with this is used to create the maps that bring all the different information together in order to understand the sites investigated by Time Team. Henry also creates the three-dimensional computer models of the sites and their landscapes and works closely with Stewart Ainsworth to get a fuller picture of the landscape archaeology and its environmental development.

Henry's PhD research focused upon the possible applications of digital mapping and surveying methods for understanding archaeological landscapes. He has previously been employed as a landscape investigator/surveyor with the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME), now part of English Heritage, and on a series of large-scale projects based at Hull University investigating the archaeology of wetlands and preservation within wet environments. Henry is currently the Director of the Visual and Spatial Technology Centre (VISTA - www.vista.bham.ac.uk) at the University of Birmingham.
