Edward III's Round Table at Windsor by Julian Munby, Richard Barber and Richard Brown (Boydell Press, 2007) paperback £14.99
The experts used by Time Team during their excavations of the round-table building at Windsor have collaborated to produce the definitive book on the subject. As well as dealing with Time Team's discoveries, it also brings together documentary evidence of the building's construction and Edward III's great festival at Windsor in 1344.

Windsor Castle: The official illustrated history by John Martin Robinson (The Royal Collection, 2001)
In this flowing and well researched account, John Martin Robinson traces the building's 1,000 years of history. He describes how William the Conqueror's impenetrable fortification became in time a medieval hunting lodge, a private retreat and a magnificent state residence. For this new, expanded edition he also includes a full account of the much-praised restoration work that was carried out after the fire in 1992.

Over the August bank holiday weekend in 2006, Time Team carried out excavations at the royal palaces of Holyroodhouse, in Edinburgh, Buckingham Palace, in London, and Windsor Castle, in Berkshire. Their most important discovery was that of Edward III's round-table building at Windsor. As well as providing a wealth of background information, this website followed the excavations at all three sites as they unfolded.
