Time Detectives

This game gives an interesting overview of an architectural dig and the practical problems that can be encountered along the way. Students have to make decisions about who to consult for advice and where to place their five trenches. The dig is timed over a hypothetical three-day period, after which a site report has to be completed. This assesses what has been discovered on the dig and gives a percentage score.

This graphic reconstruction gives information about the site of a Roman villa. Students can consult the ground plan for background notes, finds, technology information and to see the villa being constructed.

Ye Gods!
This game is in the format of a card game against Jupiter, the king of the gods. Students have to play their cards against their opponent’s choice. In choosing which cards to play they must make decisions about the qualities of the various gods on the basis of attributes such as kindness, toughness and popularity. This is an appealing and enjoyable way to get information about Roman gods.
