30 kids. 50s grammar school education. Strict discipline, single sex classes and loads of science. It’s Boys V Girls - who’ll come out on top?

Mixed education doesn’t seem to be working and boys are falling behind girls in their GCSEs by up to 10%. Nowhere is this more evident than in Science, traditionally a boys' domain.
So, what’s turning boys off? Will a hands on approach to Science help the boys close the gap? And how will the girls handle the blood and guts of dissection?
That’ll Teach Em wants to get to the heart of these issues so this series will be asking: Who rules, girls or boys? Does splitting them up improve results? Why was Science more appealing in the 50s? Can the Government’s radical changes to the curriculum reverse the decline in schools Science?
Whether you’re a frustrated pupil, concerned parent, child of the 50s, scientist or frazzled teacher, give us some wisdom in the Forum
And check out That’ll Test Em to see what happens when the pupils take on their parents in a panel quiz.
