Richard was the head teacher of a large comprehensive school in the East of England for 15 years. Subsequently, he became president of SHA (The Secondary Heads' Association) and is now an education consultant working with SHA and other school leadership groups.
Richard was interested in being involved in the series as he believes it will show that young people can be successful when given enthusiastic support and targets. He believes vocational education is not only for secondary modern students but is valuable for all students. Richard is hoping that the project will give people the opportunity to reflect on the value of vocational education for young people.
