Maurice knows all about secondary moderns. He went to one himself and stayed there until the age of 15. Maurice is 57 and has been teaching for more than 30 years. It was in his first teaching post from 1970 until 1979 that he taught rural science to teenagers. Nowadays, only a few schools still teach this subject and therefore Maurice moved on to teaching health education and PSE. Apart from teaching, Mr Pirotte has also been holding the post of deputy head at Llantarnam Comprehensive in Cwmbran, Torfaen, for the last twenty years.
Maurice wanted this opportunity because he is passionate about teaching and wants the children to realise what it used to be like. He is also looking forward to teaching rural science again.
