Jackie started teaching in 1976 with a break of eight years out to have her family. She is now the head of year 10 in a North Reading comprehensive school with a roll of 1,400 students. She teaches mainly textiles technology but also some graphics. Jackie runs an open Duke of Edinburgh award group.

Jackie has previously taught in Liverpool and Surrey. Her subjects over the years have included child development, art and science.
