That'll teach Em : The Series
  Students | Staff

Channel 4 went back to school with a unique series designed to get to the heart of the debate about educational standards over the last 50 years. In That'll Teach 'Em, 30 16-year-olds, who had just sat their GCSE exams, decamped to become boarders at the fictional 'King's School', where they received 1950s-style tuition and then sat O-levels in English, maths and history.

For one month, the world of a 1950s state boarding school was re-created in almost every detail. The pupils were placed under the supervision of a headmaster, matron, housemaster, housemistress and a number of subject tutors, all former or working teachers. They were also introduced to the joys of cross-country runs and cold showers, while the school dinners reflected the austerity of the time.

Three months after the summer experiment, Channel 4 caught up with the pupils, to find out how they were coping with the 21st century. In That Taught 'Em, we discover what they learned from the experiment and the impact it had on them.

Here are the pupils and staff of the 'King's School'. Click on their faces to find out about each person. Most of the pupils' biographies have been updated for That Taught 'Em.
