In Regency Life:
In the regency marriage market, a titled lady would be at the pinnacle of the Regency world, and would expect to have the pick of any Regency gentleman. Freed from the restrictions of the poorer and un-titled ladies in the house, Countess Griaznov is able to embark on any of the pursuits available at the time. And she can afford to raise a few eyebrows perhaps even as a cunning tactic to gain the attention and favour of the Host… However her position of privilege, may leave her isolated, and she needs to be very diplomatic if her status in the house is not to be her downfall.
In Real Life:
Larushka Ivan-Zadeh's father is of Russian origin descended from a line of White Russian nobility. Her mother is a model and former Dick Emery girl whose family is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Larushka is a Countess in real life but the title does not mean anything anymore and she never uses it. Privately educated a girls' school in Hampstead, then St Paul's, she read English Literature at Cambridge. Her father is a psychiatrist and she feels she has learnt a lot about relationships from him and understands herself better as a result. She works in a pub and writes film critiques. She admits to living in a very small flat because of the Knightsbridge address.
