In Regency Life:
As a gentleman of fortune, Mr. Everett's equal in the social hierarchy would be Miss Hopkins (The Industrial Heiress) or Miss Samuel (the West-Indian Heiress). With such an income, he's the sort of man everyone wants their daughter to marry and if this were a Jane Austen novel then he would be our Mr Bingley.
In Real Life:
John works at the Bush Theatre in London. He comes from a big family and is the youngest of five. He did a foundation course at Camberwell and then an HND in theatre design. When he was 21 he started working in theatre and is now a technical stage manager. John is also a master carpenter. He likes drinking, has just discovered poker, is heavily into astronomy and loves to paint and draw. John describes himself as "single and in circulation".
