As the chaperone to one of the poorest of the girls, and not possessing a great deal of money herself, Mrs Enright has the lowest status of the chaperones. However in the social melting pot of the Regency House, her charge is one of those with the most to gain if she can marry above herself. Mrs Enright needs to play an expert hand to secure her charge an engagement.
In Real Life:
Rosemary Enright has been married and divorced twice, and has one daughter. She is an author of "romantic fiction" and is fascinated by the Regency times. She was a commissioned officer in the Women's Royal Army Corps, but went into advertising when she became a single parent in her 30s. She published four novels in her 40s and has now completed a two-year art course in her 50s. She currently lives in Harrogate.
