What were your expectations before going into the house?
It was a little strange for me going in at a different time for the others so I was kind of nervous but probably more intrigued! I didn't know what to expect. I had a few images in my mind, only one of which turned out to be true. Concerned about whether I'd last the course, but determined to live it to the full.
How well do you think you were suited to the Regency era?
I think looks wise I was very suited; length of hair, adaptability to clothes style. Character wise I think half of me was perfectly suited and half of me completely unsuitable! I could have had a better posture/stance/sitting position. I should have maintained a better etiquette. I was good at the entertainment side which was important then, making others laugh, being a gentlemen.
Who did you fancy most in the house?
Miss Samuels
What was your best time?
Being mesmerized, returning to a wonderful reception by the others on my second visit.
What was your worst time?
Feeling depressed/trapped/unhappy/frustrated.
Do you have any regrets?
Yes. I wish I had been available for the whole project. Always felt slightly alone due to this fact.
What annoyed you most in the house?
Petty arguments between people. Frustration at the production team after requests although I don't blame them now at all.
What did you like / dislike most about dating in Regency times?
Like: The romance that could occur in magical circumstances with the art of courtship at its finest.
Dislike: The pressure.
Do you think your experience in the house has changed you?
Yes a little. It made me take a good look at myself in a pressured environment and learn how to deal with it. It exposed a hidden anger I never realised I had. It taught me how to deal with intense boredom. It opened my eyes to a world I knew little about which changes your perspective on the modern world we live in.

Who will you keep in touch with?
Everyone to an extent I hope. Primarily John Everett, Chris Gorrell-Barnes, Tanya Samuels, Lady D, Rosemary Enright, Rosie Hammond, Zachary Mardling and Victoria Hopkins.
What are you doing now?
I'm in New York becoming a rock star.
What would you have liked to see happen to your Regency personae?
To have found himself a suitable wife who he was deeply in love with and who offered him a better status. To be appointed the King's personal composer/entertainer.
If you were to do it again what would you do differently?
Start from the beginning not the middle. Be in a better frame of mind when entering. (I was suffering from mild depression when I arrived which was hard to hide all the time.) Get more involved than I did. Be less lethargic (although the heat was a cause I guess). Horse ride every day until I was fantastic. Drink less. Eat less.
Are you still single?
Yes but not alone!
Do you treat the opposite sex any differently since leaving the house?
I tend to stand up whenever a lady enters a room!
Is there anything else interesting about your experiences?
I was astonished at the way women were expected to behave. Having grown up in the modern age I consider myself to be someone who is entirely unsexist and found the rules for women unbearable. I felt guilty (at times!) being a man which basically entailed enjoying yourself to the maximum with whatever vice was available while the women were excluded from most of the enjoyable activities.
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the way men were allowed to be and the life they undertook albeit too separated from women. I would have suffered from immense boredom because of the busy life I am used too but the hedonist in me was unleashed with a fury!
I don't think a project like this can work to the extent at which some were hoping. We are too modern in our ways to have to put up with some of the sanitary issues (especially the women and their time of the month.) Our brains are conditioned to a modern way of life and you cannot change that in a 9 week period.
However, the changes that people underwent were astonishing and it is a testament to the production team and the participants that it was the success it was.
An extraordinary experience that I am incredibly privileged to have been involved in and one that will never leave my imagination.
