To pull up the details of a particular First World War memorial (including memorials commemorating names from the First and Second World Wars), in the first instance put in the name of the memorial and/or the place. The name is likely to be in this kind of format: St Swithins Church WW1; Bishop David Bridgeman Primary School WW1; etc. The place is the town, village, etc. where the memorial is located.

If your search does not find the memorial you are after, you might like to try the Advanced Search based on keywords and other details.

If the memorial you are looking for is not yet in the database, you can have it added via this section. The Lost Generation database started life containing all the relevant information in the UK’s official inventory of war memorials – this was substantial but not complete, so it is possible that the memorial you are looking for is not yet included and by adding a missing memorial you are helping complete the national records.

In the event of the Advanced Search not pulling up the memorial you are looking for, you can submit a missing memorial for addition to the database (providing you know some basic details about it). First check that it is not on the list of memorials already submitted to be added.
