Sixty years after the epic battle between Hood and Bismarck, an expedition set out to discover what happened to these two great Second World War ships.

No one knows exactly where the wreck of the Mighty Hood lies on the sea bed, and no one knows why she sank so fast. The search, led by David Mearns, a world expert in exploring the deep ocean, located The Hood using a unique sidescan sonar and solved the mystery of how she was destroyed.

They looked at the wreck but did not touch it, except to leave a plaque commemorating the more than 1,400 men who died.
