Channel 4 books presents

'Mighty Hood, Invincible Bismarck: The Search for the Truth',

by Rob White and David Mearns

In May 1941 the most dramatic sea battle of the Second World War took place. Its protagonists were the two mightiest capital ships of the era - the German battleship, Bismarck, and the British battlecruiser, Hood. Their confrontation would result in the destruction of both battleships and the loss of 3,500 lives.

Tying into a major Channel 4 series, 'Mighty Hood, Invincible Bismarck' follows the expedition to find Hood that is the climax of six years of painstaking planning and research by David Mearns and his team at Blue Water Recoveries.

Using unique footage of Hood and Bismarck taken from this expedition, 'Mighty Hood, Invincible Bismarck' seeks to solve those mysteries that have surrounded the demise of both ships.

Featuring state-of-the-art underwater photography of the wrecks, computer graphics, and sonar scans, 'Mighty Hood, Invincible Bismarck' chronicles the progress of this astonishing mission and also traces the history of these floating fortresses, which carried the aspirations of their nations wherever they went.

'Mighty Hood, Invincible Bismarck: The Search for the Truth' will be published on 23rd November 2001 by Channel 4 books.
