Churchill |
*** |
Famously afflicted from time to time by what he called his 'black dog' of depression, Churchill relied heavily on two props in particular: his wife Clementine and, on a more daily basis, strong drink. Prone to bouts of great anger and emotion, he could browbeat and intimidate colleagues and opponents alike, not always to rational effect. A phenomenal work rate and ability to bounce back from setbacks carried him through.
