Fascinating article from Time magazine, written in January 1943 and praising Stalin – probably the last time that any Soviet leader was so lauded by the right-wing Luce press. However, this was not the first time that Stalin was named 'Man of the Year' by Time: the first occasion was in 1939 when the magazine viciously attacked him for his pact with Hitler.
