About this clip

Nazi rally, Berlin: 1933

In 1933, Hitler speaks to 20,000 supporters in Berlin. He urges them to vote wisely in the coming elections to ensure that Germany is free of Communism.

Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany. At rallies and parades his passionate speeches command public support. Goebbels' propaganda machine, flags, uniforms and Himmler's SS help persuade supporters. But for complete power, Hitler needs an absolute majority in the Reichstag. The March election increases the seats won by his Nazis to 288, out of 647, but this is still not enough.
