Roaring Twenties USA!
For many Americans, the 1920s are the Jazz Age, an era of uninhibited
dancing and improvised music. In 1925, the Charleston takes America by
storm.
1920s' America is a time of extremes: rising wealth, consumption and
freedom at the same time as there is growing poverty, prohibition, fundamentalism
and repression. Young women cut their hair, shorten their skirts and dance
the Charleston, taking on the image of the 'flapper'. This is considered
shocking.
