Anne Boleyn is beheaded

Previous Previous event | Timeline | Next event Next

Henry VIII's second wife, Anne Boleyn, is executed for treason after being accused of adultery. Her failure to produce a son has convinced Henry that she is unfit to be his wife. In January, Catherine of Aragon also dies. Henry's heirs are now two females: Mary, daughter of Catherine, and Elizabeth, daughter of Anne.
