14 April 1536
The English Parliament annexes Wales. According to this Act, followed by a second in 1543, laws and justice are to be administered in Wales in the same form as in England. The two countries are now united, and the Marcher Lordships on the border of England and Wales are abolished; new counties are established; and justices of the peace are empowered to hold courts. English is made the official language of administration and daily use. |
