Previous Previous event | Timeline | Next event Next

Extravagant pageant staged by Henry VIII and Francis I of France, which lasts from 7 to 24 June at the Val d'Or, near Guines in France. Contrived by Cardinal Wolsey, the meeting is supposed to foster friendship between the two countries, with both kings spending time jousting, wrestling and feasting, and concluding with a Mass. Their truce is temporary, however.
