16 December 1431
According to the Treaty of Troyes (see 25 October 1415), Henry VI is also king of France. He is crowned in Paris but the dauphin Charles (the future Charles VII) has already beaten him to it, having been crowned in Reims in July 1429. With England rapidly losing its lands in France, the title is meaningless, but the English crown hangs on to it for the next 300 years. |
