Robert Bruce declares himself king of Scots

Scottish nobleman Robert Bruce, who is descended from an earlier claimant to the Scottish throne, pronounces himself king at Scone. But he is regarded with suspicion by many nobles after murdering his nearest rival, John Comyn, in a Dumfries church, and is forced to go into hiding.
