AD 251
Decius becomes the first Roman emperor to be killed in battle by the enemies of Rome, when he falls in battle against the Goths. His short reign was characterised by religious persecutions, when he required all citizens to make sacrifice to the old gods. Many followers of the growing Christian faith refused, including Pope Fabianus at Rome. Pogroms follow in various parts of the empire. |
