Recent Diplomacy : Montenegro joined Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria in a war against Turkey in 1912. Involvement in this Balkan War reinforced Montenegro's sense of independence from the Ottoman empire (Turkey). When the World War I began in 1914, the Montenegrin army fought with the Serbs against Austria-Hungary on the Balkan Front.
Casualties by 1918 : 3,000 dead, 10,000 wounded
