The team

The Extreme Archaeology team members are all experts in their fields. Here you can read about their backgrounds, their expertise, their work on the programmes and some of their favourite – and scariest – moments.

The team consists of:

• Mark Davies, volcanologist, climber, caver, diver and team leader
• Katie Hirst in charge of excavation
• Alice Roberts, doctor and bones expert
• Meg Watters, geophysicist and digital imaging specialist
