The Amazon

The Amazon's Indigenous Peoples

Monday, 21 February, 8pm

In July 1999, eight students from Royal Holloway, University of London, set off into the Ecuadorian Amazon on a research project to find out how the Huaorani, the last group of indigenous people in Ecuador to be contacted by Westerners, feel about tourism. After months of preparation and weeks of travel accompanied by a survival expert, the team eventually make contact. But the journey doesn't go according to plan - the Huaorani have their own plans for the students, and a midnight foray into the jungle turns into an encounter the team will never forget.

This is their story...
