The hugely entertaining history quiz returns on Channel 4, Saturday 10 November at 5.45pm
Presented by Tony Robinson, Codex is filmed at night in the British Museum in the iconic Egyptian Gallery and features some of the world’s most amazing historical artefacts.
Two teams must pit their wits against each other, answering questions ranging from the Aztec Empire to the English Civil War.
Many of the artefacts are introduced by a specialist British Museum curator who explains their historical and cultural significance. Among the treasures featured in the series are the Elgin Marbles, Oliver Cromwell’s death mask, Thomas Becket’s reliquary and an Easter Island statue.
Week by week the artefacts in the series will appear in the picture galleries, with links to the British Museum website where you can find out loads more information. You can also play the ancient history quizzes or if you're really keen read about our long-standing fascination with unlocking the secrets of the past.
