The Siege at Raglan

Just six days after the conclusion of the siege, Parliament ordered that Raglan should be totally demolished, and earmarked the profits of destruction as reward for their victorious army. The building was stripped of such material wealth as could be easily removed but, even in defeat, the medieval masonry proved too strong.

The transcript from the voice over for the video:
"And we have here, the date reference. Tuesday 25th August 1646. This is just six days after Raglan falls. That’s right and here in the margin, we have the subject matter. Raglan Castle to be demolished.

And the text reads, resolved that the Castle of Raglan, the works about with the houses and buildings there of to be pulled down and demolished. And then, finally down here, all the materials should be sold and disposed of for the best advantage of the State.
And then the conclusion of the episode, that the person of earl of Worcester be forth with send for and that upon his arriving in London, forth with committed prisoner of the tower.”
